Eye and Retina Specialists is an independent ophthalmology practice in Waterloo, providing comprehensive specialist care in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, intravitreal injections, cataract surgery, laser vision correction and general ophthalmology.

Located in the Green Square precinct, our clinic was purpose-built to deliver modern, accessible eye care in a professional setting, within close reach of Sydney CBD, South Sydney, the Inner West and the Eastern Suburbs.

We accept referrals for a wide range of eye conditions, from routine assessment through to complex medical and surgical care. We aim to provide our patients with an accurate diagnosis, clear communication, genuine advice and continuity of care.

How your consultation is structured

A typical visit includes:​​

  1. Assessment and imaging
    Advanced diagnostic testing performed by trained staff

  2. Specialist consultation
    Review of results, diagnosis and treatment discussion

  3. Treatment planning
    This may include monitoring, injections, laser or surgery

  4. Follow-up care
    Particularly important for retinal conditions requiring ongoing review

Dedicated Eye Injection Service

We provide intravitreal injection therapy for conditions such as:

  • Macular degeneration

  • Diabetic macular oedema

  • Retinal vein occlusion

  • Geographic atrophy

  • Myopia related choroidal new vessels

  • Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV)

  • Central serous chorioretinopathy, where appropriate

  • Idiopathic choroidal neovascularisaton 

 

Treatment is performed in a dedicated procedure room using appropriate sterile technique, allowing:

  • Timely access to treatment

  • Continuity of care

  • Reduced need for hospital-based services

Our clinic offers a reduced rate for pensioners. For those with genuine financial hardship, we have a Retina Access Program to minimise out of pocket expenses. 

Cataract Surgery and Laser Vision Correction Surgery

The practice provides:

  • Cataract surgery assessment and management

  • Intraocular lens planning

  • Laser vision correction including SMILE Pro, LASIK, PRK and PRESBYOND

 

Patients are guided through individualised treatment options based on their visual needs and clinical findings.

Established in Waterloo since 2015

Eye and Retina Specialists moved to its purpose-built present facility in Waterloo in 2015, and has developed into a trusted and established referral centre in Sydney.

We work closely with:
